  • The third edition of the ELSEDIMA-RO, 2003 International Conference developed in Căciulata, the debate of the papers took place in the Hotel Complex Călimăneşti-Căciulata between 28 and 30 of August.
  • To the organisation of this edition contributed local, regional and international institutions, such as the Stability Pact – The Disasters Preparedness and Prevention Initiative, DPPI, „Babeş-Bolyai” University, the Romanian Civil Protection Command, The Ministry of Environment and Water Management, the Geography Institute of the Romanian Academy, the Research Institute of Analytical Instrumentation, ICIA Cluj-Napoca and the Regional Center for Major Industrial Accident Prevention, CRAIM, Cluj-Napoca.
  • The framework contents of the debates developed according to the conference topics by creting the basis of co-operation on national and international level for implementing the regulations and legislations regarding industrial accidents and disaster management: the Seveso Directive, safety programme, safety report, general obligations of the operators, integrated prevention and pollution control, risk management programme, risk communication, decision making in risk situations, emergency plans, strategies for residual risk due to old technologies and plants, public health and exposure analysis.
  • There were 78 participants, among which 16 foreigners (Saul Lemkovitz – Delft University of Technology; Cvetka Tomin Crajic – Stability Pact; Vujanic Miroslav – Stability Pact) and 62 Romanians.
